Acid Forming Foods Versus
Alkaline Forming Foods
In the August 6th 2004 HMM I told you about Otto Warburg, Ph.D, the neuro-chemist
who won a Nobel Prize for discovering that cancer cells need glucose to grow and
advises that no one who has cancer, or is prone to getting cancer, should be eating
sugar.
In a recent sturdy by an India research team, they sited a correlation between the
rise in cancer to the rise in soda pop consumption over the last couple of decades.
Recently we have been asked if there are foods that we eat that also encourage cancer
cell growth, and are there foods we eat that retard cancer cell growth, and the answer is
yes to both questions.
It is well known in alternative medical circles that cancer cells thrive in an acid
media and do not fair well in an alkaline media. In other words, if the pH of your body is acidic,
cancer cells will multiply away. If the pH of your body is alkaline, cancer cells will not
multiply. Many alternative medical practitioners also say that cancer cells will not only
NOT multiply, but with the abstinence of sugar and an alkaline environment, cancer cells
will die off.
If you are on chemo or taking radiation treatments, eliminating sugar and eating alkaline
forming foods will help make these treatments more effective in putting you in
remission, or in effecting total cure, and can possibly shorten the length of the
treatments themselves.
Knowing which foods to avoid, acid forming, and which to eat, alkaline
forming, is not listed at your local super-market, so I have prepared a list below that you can carry with
you when you go shopping. Having this knowledge is important since most oncologists
do not address the issue of the body helping to heal itself through nutrition and pH
control and this neglect, or ignorance, can be very detrimental to your health.
How Do You Know If Your Body Is Acidic Or Alkaline?
Buy some pH paper at your Pharmacy and test you urine. Match the color of the pH paper to the chart and it will
tell you if your body is acidic, below 7, or alkaline, above 7. The ideal pH for your body is a
pH of 7.3. Keeping your body in a range of 7.1 to 7.4 will aid in fighting off all kinds of
diseases, not only cancer.
It should be noted that all drugs are acid forming, especially anti-biotics.
That is one reason why people who get on drugs almost never get off them, since drugs fight your
body’s ability to heal itself by keeping your body in an acidic state. Don’t the drug
companies love that!
In many cases, getting your body into the pH range of 7.1 to 7.4 could make the
difference between beating the disease and becoming healthy again, having a poor
quality life, or dieing.
By the way, if your are arthritic, keeping your body on the alkaline side also works well
for reducing the joint inflammation of arthritis and may eliminate pain of arthritis
altogether without drugs.
Here is the list of foods that will help you balance your body’s pH. First the acid forming
which you want to avoid unless your pH goes above 7.4 (also very unhealthy) and then
the alkaline forming which are so important in helping to defeat cancer as will as many
other diseases.

Highest in Acid Forming Foods:
Alcohol, artichoke root, barley, bread, buckwheat, caffeine, coffee,
corn (not fresh or processed),
custards, drugs, most flours, ginger preserves, honey, lentils, pate, oatmeal, peanuts, rice,
rye grain, soy bread, soy noodles, sorghum, spaghetti and other pastas, sugar cane,
raw beets, tobacco, walnut (English), wheat.
Acid Forming Foods:
Dried beans, cashews, coconut, cranberry juice and concentrate, egg yolk,
filberts, fruit jellies, (canned jams, sulfured, sugared, dried), grapes, pasteurized milk products, dry
peas, pecans, Damson plums, tofu, fries and water-chestnuts.
Acid Forming Fats:
Butter, cream, margarine and lard.
Neutral Oils (OK to eat.) Cold Pressed or Expeller Pressed Only:
Almond, avocado, coconut, cottonseed, linseed (flaxseed), olive, safflower, sesame,
sunflower and walnut.
Highest Alkaline Forming Foods:
String beans, banana, dandelion greens, dates, figs, prunes, raisins and Swiss chard.
High Alkaline Forming Foods:
Almonds, asparagus, avocado, fresh beans, beets, blackberries, carrot, cranberries,
chives, endive, sour grapes, kale, dried peach, persimmon, plum, pomegranate,
raspberries, rooibos tea and spinach.
Alkaline Forming Foods:
Agar, alfalfa, apple & fresh apple cider, fresh apricot, globe artichokes, bamboo shoots,
snap beans, sprouted beans, most berries, blueberries, broccoli, Brussel sprouts,
cabbage, cantaloupe, cauliflower, celery, cherries, chestnuts, chicory, coconut milk,
collards, corn (when picked fresh and sweet), cucumbers, daikon, eggplant, escarole, garlic, ginger
root, gooseberry, grapefruit, guava, horseradish (fresh and raw), kelp, kohlrabi, leek,
lemon, lettuce, line, loganberry, mango, melons, raw milk, millet, acidophilus yogurt and whey.
As you can see, there are lots of good and enjoyable foods to choose from to get and
keep your body in the ideal pH range to ward off, reverse, or help reverse, debilitating
diseases.
Learning to eat healthy and taking good supplements are the keys to a quality healthy
and long life.
It is not difficult to have and maintain this high quality healthy life but for all to many of you
it will mean a life style change, and well worth it!
